One of annoying thing when waiting in my Peugeot 206 was that my phone runs out of battery, but I can only listen to the simple FM radio channel from the car radio system, because it’s neither touchscreen, nor multifunctional. That’s really bad feeling!
As there are various aftermarket touchscreen radio head units and some of them are quality as well affordable, I decided to get one for my car. Last month, I got the new radio installed.
Part 1, How I Did the Removal and Installation Job?
First of all, after doing some searches, I purchased the suitable radio from the HUAFEI website. They delivered it to me within 5 days. That stuff can be used to 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 Peugeot 206 radio replacement.
The needed tools would be a plastic pry tool and a screwdriver. Before working, the car power must be cut off to ensure safety. Now let’s get started.
This is factory radio of my 2003 Peugeot 206.
1, Use the plastic pry tool to remove the top cover of the factory radio.
2, After removing the top cover, you can see there are two screws that fixed the radio system, use the screwdriver to remove them. Then you can take down the whole radio system, also unplug its connectors.
3, Next we can take a check for the new touchscreen Android radio unit, just correspondingly connect the new cables to it. Read the user manual if you are not sure the cable interfaces.
4, In this step, we need to remove the A/C outlets of the old radio system, and need to install them to the new radio.
5, Now you can install the touchscreen head unit to the car dashboard. Make sure the cables are correctly connected. Then power the car to test whether the new radio works normally. If there is problem, double check the wiring condition, or contact seller for help.
Part 2, What I Benefited from the Touchscreen Stereo?
The whole installation was not so hard, but it did take some time to do, while everything was worth. I get much joy and convenience with that touch screen stereo.
- It not only comes FM radios, but has AM radios, and they are multiple. Besides, connecting to WIFI, I can play my favorite songs online, as well as watch Youtube videos.
- The navigation functions does help me a lot. It keeps working even no network signal, also won’t be disturbed easily. Whenever I drive to a strange place, I won’t lost the way with the accurate navigation information.
- I love that Carplay function. This gives me the ability to use Phone APPs freely on the radio screen. For example, playing the phone music, checking phone book, making call directly and so on.
- One of outstanding features of the large screen radio is that it supports car cameras. That’s to say, I can install a rear view camera to the car, when I reverse, I can see the rear situation on the radio screen, to avoid any collision.
Now you know, if I still use the old radio, any of above won’t be happened.
