As you can find, the screen of the phones, the TVs, the laptops, becoming smarter and smarter. Not only do they look beautiful, but they are better to show information as well easy to use. The touchscreen car radios are the same. And the fact is more drivers choose aftermarket radio head units for their cars.
I love the touchscreen unit, so few weeks ago I installed one in my 2011 Subaru Forester dashboard. You can check the installation steps below, hope that will help you when you plan to upgrade your factory radio.
Beginning tips:
Radio model: Android radio for 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 Subaru Forester stereo upgrade
Tools: Plastic pry tools, screwdrivers.
For safety, the car power must be cut off before working on the dashboard.
The removal and installation steps
Here is my factory radio system,
Step 1, Use a plastic pry tool to remove the radio frame.
Step 2, Remove these 4 screws that fixed the radio unit.
Step 3, Take down the radio unit, and disconnect its plugs.
Step 4, Remove the A/C outlet of the radio frame, then install the outlet to the touchscreen car radio system.
Step 5, Next, you can connect the new radio to the car with the new cables.
Step 6, Fix the new radio to the dash, and turn on your car to test it.
Step 7, If the new unit can’t be turned on, please double check whether there is issue about the wiring. Or you can contact the seller for help.
Awesome features of this Subaru Forester stereo
Compared to the original button-operated radio, the new stereo radio system is equipped with 9-inch touchscreen. It’s easy and convenient to operate. We can also enjoy a perfect vision when watch videos.
The unit comes built-in Carplay, that’s the most useful function. Once you apply Carplay, the radio acts as the phone. You are able to use phone apps like navigation, music, contact book etc. safer on the road.
Due to the large screen, you can get a rear view camera to the car. After connecting the camera to the radio system, the screen will automatically switch to the rear images when you reverse and park car. By seeing the clear images, you can park car without troubles.
Actually, the head unit brings lots of functions like Bluetooth music, FA/AM radios, WIFI connection etc. With such multifunctional system, your drive must be better.
